Featured in Dell Power Solutions magazine, this article takes an in-depth look at how Dell wanted to replace its manual processes with an automated solution that monitored all databases and enterprise applications, including Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle JD Edwards®, Oracle Hyperion software, the Oracle database and Microsoft® SQL Server® on both Microsoft Windows® and Linux® operating systems. The solution needed to:
- Make only minimal overhead demands on the database server
- Provide automated evidence for passing audit requirements
- Be deployed without DBA expertise and without changes to the databases
- Compare and report audit data with change tickets that were approved in the Dell change management system
- Alert staff in real time on critical security events, such as brute-force password and SQL injection attacks
- Provide separation of duties for privileged users, ensuring accuracy and integrity of all user and database activities and commands stored in the Guardium system .
